22 September 2017 - EVVIVAX scientists successfully treat an Asian Elephant with Electrochemotherapy
EVVIVAX has moved from mice, to cats and dogs and now Elephants!
EVVIVAX is proud to be part of the team treating Juno, a beautiful 50 year old Asian Elephant diagnosed with inoperable breast cancer.
This unique case was part of a televised Nat Geo Wild documentary. In September, we performed the second Electrochemotherapy treatment at the El Paso Zoo in El Paso, Texas, USA. After many years of collaboration with Takis, Dr. Joseph .A. Impellizeri (www.petcancerinformation.com), a World Expert in Electroporation Oncology Applications, was the lead clinician treating Juno.
This is an incredible achievement where Human Oncology helps Veterinary Oncology. It is also the first time this species has ever been treated with Electrochemotherapy--- thanks to Italian technology!
EVVIVAX will investigate the molecular mechanisms and the immune response elicited as a consequence of the treatment. Juno continues to do well with tumor reduction and maintenance of an excellent quality of life.
We, at EVVIVAX, help pets and people with our Passion, Science and Ground-Breaking Technologies.
Forza Juno!
